Over the weekend we were able to spend some time getting to know Mark Gordon, COO of Odyssey Marine. Mark and his wife Sue made a trip to Key West to celebrate his birthday, which kicked off with a Danger Charters Wind and Wine sunset sail charted exclusively for the event and attended by marine exploration colleagues from Mel Fishers Treasures, Blue Water Ventures, Artificial Reefs of the Keys, Historic Research and Certification, Inc., Florida Straits Diving, Digital Island Media, and Diveguru.net. Kim and Sean Fisher joined the group along with Gary Randolph and Archaeologist Jim Sinclair to exchange treasure-hunting techniques and discuss industry details and initiatives.

The next day Mark was able to put a check mark next to two items on his bucket list when he dove the Atocha and Margarita shipwreck sites. While the techniques used in our shallow water recovery operation are much different that the deep-water wrecks he is accustomed to the excitement level remains the same. While on site the Blue Water Rose found a coin attached to a spike head and the Magruder crew had found some encrusted objects. It was a beautiful day on the water with extraordinary visibility, what more could you ask for?
